Abstract:
Background and Aim: Competitiveness in specialized professions, such as law and medicine, is a key factor in improving service quality, reducing costs and enhancing public access to these services.
Method: This study is analytical and descriptive, employing a library-based research methodology.
Ethical Considerations: All ethical principles of academic research, including intellectual property rights, transparency in data analysis and accurate citation, have been fully observed.
Results: Adopting a comparative approach, this research examines competitiveness in these two professions in Iran and the United States. In Iran, the enactment of the "Facilitation of Business Licensing Act" has brought significant changes in reducing monopolies and fostering competition in the legal profession. However, the medical profession remains subject to strict structural and regulatory constraints, limiting equitable access to services. In contrast, the United States has successfully established a healthy and sustainable competitive environment in these professions through the Sherman Act and antitrust policies. Modern technologies, such as telemedicine and digital legal tools, have also played a significant role in enhancing quality and reducing costs in both countries.
Conclusion: The findings indicate that competitiveness, when accompanied by appropriate oversight, can lead to innovation and improved professional standards. However, challenges such as unequal distribution of services, high costs and unethical practices related to competition are observed in both countries. To enhance competitiveness in Iran, the study recommends reforms in regulatory frameworks, revisions to the educational system, wider adoption of modern technologies and incentives for professionals to work in underserved areas. The research also underscores the importance of learning from the successful experiences of the United States and adapting them to Iran's economic and cultural context to ensure more equitable and effective access to legal and medical services.
