Abstract:
Background and Aim: Male sexual victimization is a complex and challenging issue with extensive effects on physical, psychological and social health. Despite cultural and social stereotypes, a precise scientific understanding of this phenomenon is essential for developing effective support and treatment strategies. This study aims to examine the multifaceted impacts of male sexual victimization on health, with an emphasis on therapeutic needs and strategies for harm reduction.
Method: This study was conducted using a mixed-methods approach. In the qualitative phase, in-depth interviews with experts and male victims of sexual violence were conducted using the Delphi method and qualitative content analysis. Data were analyzed using MAXQDA software. In the theoretical phase, reputable articles and books were reviewed to strengthen the theoretical framework.
Ethical Considerations: This research adhered to ethical principles, including obtaining informed consent from participants, maintaining confidentiality of personal information and ensuring their psychological well-being throughout the study.
Results: Male sexual victimization leads to physical issues such as injuries, sexually transmitted infections and cardiovascular disorders; psychological problems including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression and social damages such as social isolation and diminished self-esteem. These problems are often exacerbated by social stigma and a lack of supportive services.
Conclusion: Male sexual victimization has profound and widespread impacts on physical and psychological health, directly disrupting the quality of life and social relationships of the victims. Reducing social stigma, developing specialized psychotherapeutic services and implementing supportive policies for this group are essential. Treatment programs should comprehensively address the physical, psychological and social dimensions of health and facilitate access to therapeutic and educational services. These measures can improve the quality of life for victims and help break the cycle of harm. Addressing this issue not only accelerates the personal recovery of victims but also plays a vital role in enhancing public health and achieving social justice
