چکیده:
Armed conflict threatens children’s physical and mental health, particularly through recruitment and use in hostilities. This study examines the adequacy of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict in protecting the right to health of affected children. This study employs a doctrinal legal research method, analyzing the Optional Protocol alongside the Convention on the Rights of the Child and relevant principles of international humanitarian and international criminal law. Although the Protocol strengthens protection against child recruitment and provides for physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration, differentiated legal standards and implementation challenges limit its effectiveness. Moreover, its provisions do not comprehensively address the healthcare needs of affected children. Effective protection requires stronger implementation of international obligations, improved access to healthcare and rehabilitation, and enhanced national and international cooperation to safeguard children’s physical and mental health during and after armed conflict.
