Abstract:
Background and Aim: The issues related to children's vulnerability to armed conflicts are very extensive. The purpose of this article is to examine the approach of the United Nations in protecting children against non-governmental armed groups in compliance with humanitarian laws.
Method: The mentioned article is descriptive and analytical and the library method is used.
Ethical Considerations: In all stages of writing the present research, the originality of the texts, honesty and trustworthiness have been observed.
Results: The framework established by the United Nations to address the situation of children affected by armed conflicts relies on a monitoring and reporting mechanism implemented by personnel on the ground and overseen by the Office of the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Children. This information issue can be understood as one that may be used by several actors and aims to ensure compliance with basic humanitarian rules and reduce severe casualties among children. Governments and armed non-state groups are encouraged to engage with UN personnel on the ground to adopt action plans that will lead them to compliance.
Conclusion: The degree of success of the monitoring and reporting mechanism is based on the fact that non-state armed groups may be willing to comply with international law on the protection of children affected by armed conflict and that engaging in dialogue for development and Implementation of action plans can stimulate this desire.
